The Fall

I ran into Paul, my much tattooed friend, a week or so ago, and we talked about the tattoo that I may or may not get done. He invited me to the gala opening of The Fall, his tattoo and piercing parlour/art gallery. He also said he’d love to show Crowtography II. I’m not sure I’m willing to let it go…but I may be…

I gave Paul some commercial fixtures (shelves, counters) that I had around and wanted to get rid of. Now that they’re gone I have to get rid of the stuff that was on or in them, so the clutter is to be relieved. Yay!

So I’m going to a big party tonight with the modified hipsters. An event like this, on a Saturday night, is way out of my comfort zone, so I’m taking a friend with me. She is a photographer, so maybe we won’t stand out too much. Maybe all I have to do is wear dark colours – camouflage in the modified world. I hope she’s going to wear black.

I’m going to therapy again, talking about my fucked up family as I should have been doing the whole time I went to group. My family is just about the most fucked up family I’ve ever heard of other than sexually abusive or homicidally insane or addicted families. In the grand scheme of things, my existence, my family, my pain would barely register as inconveniences, but they’re mine and I have had to learn to have a fruitful existence regardless of them.

It has not been easy, but I have learned to have a fruitful existence regardless of them. I own a home, I work, I study, I have friends, I (mostly) understand how to interact with the world, but I still have a pile of ugly stuff that needs to be sorted and dealt with. Ugly work. Yuck.

I’d rather be picking stray hair out of the bathtub drain.

Here’s a name for the images that I capture: Souvenirs of an Artistic Eye. I came up with that when talking with J. Claire, when describing the photos that I take. I liked it and she liked it too.
