Hazardous Hygiene

I took a shower this morning.

Now, taking a shower in the morning is not such an unusual occurrence for me, in fact I do it with astonishing regularity. However my shower this morning was slightly different from the norm in that I got water into one of my ears.

Now, getting water in my ears after a shower is not such an unusual occurrence for me, in fact it happens with astonishing regularity. However, the water this morning was slightly different from the norm in that it didn’t, as it normally does, drain off within a few hours.

In fact, my ears got more and more plugged up and painful as the day went on, and now they hurt every time the pressure in my head changes. Yuck.

This is not the first time I have had ear issues related to bathing, once, many years ago I was taking a bath and submerged to wet my hair, then, while I was still wet, blew my nose. What happened next was an explosion in my head, one of the top ten most painful things ever, which turned out to be me blowing a hole one of my eardrums.

You know, for the sake of my ears, it’s probably best not to bathe at all.
